Hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant (meaning it draws moisture from the environment surrounding it) keeping the skin plump, hydrated and youthful. Our Face the Day hydrating facial serum can be used in the Am or Pm. The active ingredient, hyaluronic acid is able to hold more water than any other natural substance - making it one of the world's best moisturizers. Its unmatched hydrating properties result in increased smoothness and softening and a decrease in wrinkles. As we age, skin moisture can drop significantly, which makes the skin lose elasticity and expose the signs of aging on the skin. Hyaluronic acid plays a critical role in skin health with its unique ability to hold in moisture (1000 ml of water per gram). Hyaluronic acid is also a “smart nutrient” as it can adjust its moisture absorption rate based on the humidity. When applied topically, hyaluronic acid is able to penetrate the skin’s upper layers to improve and benefit the skin,boosting the elasticity and hydration of the skin. When used daily you will see softer, smoother, more hydrated skin. After cleansing and toning apply a pea sized amount to your face, neck and decollete. Once the hydraulic acid face serum has soaked in, apply moisturizer and makeup. Hyaluronic acid benefits the skin as it protects the skin from UVB rays (and the scavenging reactive oxygen species they generate), which can cause sunspots. Applied topically, it increases hydration, improves elasticity, reverses free radical damage, and may have some benefit in protecting from UV damage. Although its name may imply that it is a harsh exfoliant (such as an alpha hydroxy acid), this could not be further from the truth.
